About Me

If you’re working on a manuscript or have a story that’s been waiting for some professional editing, this might be the perfect time to collaborate.

Open, constructive, and honest author-editor relationship is essential for creating the best version of your book. Feeling comfortable with your editor will allow you to unfold your creativity and write confidently. My style is polite, friendly, and encouraging. I respect every author, and my greatest pleasure is to see you succeed.

With years of experience, I’m here to help you enhance your storytelling, refine your prose, and bring out the best in your manuscript. I’m a line/copy editor and proofreader, working with both self-publishing and traditionally published authors for the past 3 years. I have several award-winning and bestselling authors in my portfolio, and I’m a member of ACES: The Society for Editing.

My main experience is with fiction novels, romance, women’s fiction, YA, thriller, mystery, suspense, fantasy, and children’s books, but I’m open to discussing anything else.

Together, we will improve the reading flow, clarity, and conciseness of your manuscript while preserving your unique author’s voice. Feel free to send me a message or inquire about available slots. Let’s bring your words to life!

I specialize in:

  • Fiction novels

  • Romance (regency to contemporary, romantic comedy, romantic fantasy, steamy romance, and more)

  • Women’s fiction

  • Young adult

  • Thriller/suspense

  • Fantasy

  • Middle-grade and children’s books

  • Self-help

Don’t see your genre? Get in touch anyway, I’d love to discuss your project and take on a new challenge!

Who is Nevvie?

After almost a decade in digital marketing, a burnout and my love for books led me to take a leap of faith, quit my job, and pursue a freelance career as a book editor & proofreader.

Three years ago, I quit my secure and well-paid job to pursue a dream. With no connections in the publishing industry or direct prior experience, it seemed impossible to become a freelance editor. But I just had to try.

Since then, I’ve met so many wonderful authors who trusted me with their years of hard work. Some of them even became my dear friends. Most of them turned into long-term partnerships. Indie authors rock!

From a very young age, I’ve always found great comfort in books. I can’t tell you how many nights I spent reading a book until dawn just because I couldn’t leave it until I got to the last page. Books were my way of traveling around the world when my family didn’t have money even to leave the small town I grew up in. Through The Thorn Birds, I got to know the vast pastures of New Zealand; thanks to Murakami, I experienced Japan. Gone with the Wind introduced me to the great ballrooms of the South.

When I realized I needed to make a huge change in the name of my mental and physical health, it was obvious that the publishing industry was the right path. I took a certificate course and several other book editing courses, and since then, I’ve been developing my editing skills and experience. I’ve been so lucky to work with incredible authors, some of whom won awards or became bestsellers.

I chose the editing career to manifest my love for books and admiration for authors’ ability to create unique worlds. I want to be a part of these worlds. I want to help you build beautiful places, characters, and stories.

Stefanie Chu, award-winning author:

Back when I knew very few people in the writing community as a new author, Nevvie was one of my first beta readers and she gave me terrific ideas on how to improve my story. Flash forward a year later and she is now a professional editor who can magically spot the tiniest grammar issues that slipped past a dozen editors and reviewers. I highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for quality editing.
